PACQUIAO APPROVES DESIGN OF HIS STAMP
The Philippine Postal Corporation (PhilPost) is now in the process of printing both the regular and special limited edition of the Manny Pacquiao stamps. The design was personally handpicked by the world champion before he left the country to prepare for his upcoming fight.
Manny Pacquiao approved the final design when it was sent to him in his training camp by his Manager Mr. Eric Pineda. “I am very pleased with the design that was done by the Philately Division of the Philpost”, the Pacman was quoted as saying after seeing the version of the stamp sent to him via e-mail.

WORLD POWERLIFTING CHAMP IS PHILPOST PRIDE
Postmaster Erlina Pecante of the Philippine Postal Corporation who just garnered
honors for the country by winning the Gold Medal and Breaking the World Record
in the Squat Event at the recently concluded World Power Lifting Championships
in Czechoslovakia was given recognition by PhilPost during the 109th anniversary
celebration.
Pecante, a recipient of the 2004 Philpost Ten Outstanding Postal Worker (TOPW)
award, is fresh from winning the gold medal at the World Masters Powerlifting
Championships held in Ostrava, Czech Republic. Pecante’s last attempt of 210
kilograms of the squat in the 90-kg weight class is the new world record.

PHILPOST LAUNCHES INTERNATIONAL LETTER-WRITING CONTEST FOR WORLD PEACE
The Philippine Postal Corporation (PhilPost) and the Universal Postal Union (UPU)
based in Berne, Switzerland have launched the 37th International Letter Writing
Competition for young people to promote better understanding around the world
through the post office. This year’s competition aims at creating a world in
which all people shall live in harmony, a noble goal to which each of us can aspire.
The competition will focus on the theme "Write a letter to someone to tell them
why the world needs tolerance.”

PHILPOST LAUNCHES SERIES OF WORKSHOP TO IMPROVE MAIL DELIVERIES
As part of the overall improvement of Philippine Postal Corporation (Philpost),
a three-day Luzon Mail Linkages Diagnostic Meeting workshop was launched to
synchronize the interchanges of mail dispatches between the central exchange
offices and regional offices in Luzon.
Held from Jan. 30 to Feb. 1, the main objective of the seminar-training was to
meet universal ruling of three-day delivery of mails. Discussed during the
seminar was the number of to be installed additional mail exchanges in entire Luzon.

PHILPOST, DOJ MARK CENTENNIAL PARTNERSHIP ON MAILS
The Philippine Postal Corporation (Philpost) and the Department of Justice (DOJ)
marked a century of postal partnership with the signing of memorandum of agreement
(MOA) for the renewal of contract for mailing transactions between the two agencies.
Postmaster General and CEO Hector R.R. Villanueva signed in behalf of Philpost
while Justice Secretary Raul Gonzales signed for the DOJ. Villanueva has
acknowledged the Department of Justice as a valuable partner spanning a century
of postal service to the Justice Department.

PHILPOST TURNS ‘GREEN’
The Philippine Postal Corp. (Philpost) starts to turn “green” January 2008 when
it implements a pilot waste segregation project in support of government and
global initiatives to protect the environment.
Postmaster General Hector R.R. Villanueva issued a directive for all officers,
employees and canteen operators in two major locations, the Central Post Office
Building, which is also the Corporate Headquarters and, the Central Mail Exchange
Center (CMEC) near the International Airport, to segregate all garbage and deposit
these in marked bins strategically located in the premises of the two locations.

FAST, SURE AND CHEAP PHILPOST MONEY ORDER PAYMENT VIA POSTAL BANK ATMs
Starting this November, relatives and beneficiaries will have easier access to
money sent by overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) as the Philippine Postal Corporation
(PhilPost) and the Philippine Postal Savings Bank (PostalBank) launches a new
partnership dubbed as “International Money Order (IMO) via PostalCash ATM.”
Under the joint project, proceeds of international money order remittances shall
be credited to the PostalBank ATM accounts of the recipients within two hours
from receipt of IMO list from selected foreign postal administrations. This will
initially cover 12 countries with substantial OFW population namely: Brunei,
Hongkong, Indonesia, Iran, Japan, Korea, Kuwait, Malaysia, Qatar, Singapore, Thailand,
and the United Arab Emirates.

MIRACULOUS ICON AT PHILPOST
Regina Pacis Mundi, a catholic renewal ministry held a successful miraculous
visitation at the Manila Central Post Office Building last year upon the
invitation of Chief Executive Staff Atty. Julie Dimalanta. This year the
miraculous image will visit several post offices as requested by employees
who were blessed by the presence of the holy icon.

PHILPOST AXES 129 EMPLOYEES
The Philippine Postal Corp. (Philpost), in its renewed campaign against erring
employees, has dismissed 129 employees over the past 24 months for various offenses.
“More heads will roll. We will not tolerate scalawags to ruin this institution.
This is a continuing relentless campaign to rid the agency of erring employees,”
said Postmaster General and chief executive officer Hector R.R. Villanueva.

TWO MORE PHILPOST EMPLOYEES FIRED
The Philippine Postal Corporation’s (Philpost) campaign against wrongdoers in its
ranks is going full blast with the dismissal of 129 employees for the past 24 months
for various offenses.
Among those fired were postmen Najal S. Halil and Saidal Taulani, both of Regional
Office 9. Halil was dismissed for dishonesty, gross violation of rules and regulations
and conduct grossly prejudicial to the best interest of the service on March 12, 2007.
