Even the Philippine Postal Corporation did not escape the devastating onslaught of typhoon “Ondoy” last September 26. Several Post Offices in Luzon including the Main Post Office Building in Liwasang Bonifacio, Manila were severely hit by floods due to the continuous downpour of rain.

Postmaster General and CEO Hector Villanueva instructed Philpost workers to conduct a simultaneous cleanup at the corporation’s main building as well as other post offices around Metro Manila and Luzon after typhoon Ondoy flooded many offices. Villanueva also commended postal employees for helping their co-workers on areas severely affected by floods which as of this moment are staying in their relatives and evacuation centers.

The Lockbox Section at the Manila Central Post Office and the Warehouse Unit of the Supplies Management Division-LPMD were among the offices in the Main PO Building that were greatly affected by the said typhoon. Mails for deliveries and supplies were later dried up as employees of the aforementioned offices performed a “Bayanihan” to help clean up the mess and repaired the damages left by typhoon Ondoy.
