The Philippine Postal Corporation has come up with the University of the Philippines College of Law stamps which was issued last April 11, 2011, in line with its celebration of 100 years of excellence in law. It is classified as a “Commemorative” kind of issue with a denomination of P 7.00 and quantity of 113,000 pieces.
According to its official website (http://law.upd.edu.ph/index.php), it says:
“President Benigno S. Aquino III declared 2011 as the “University of the Philippines College of Law Centennial Year.” The entire UP Law community, along with its alumni, will celebrate 100 years of excellence in law, with various Centennial activities, prepared and organized by the UP Law Centennial Commission, set to officially begin January 2011 as UP Law Celebrates its centennial month. The Centennial Celebration has been given the theme, “The College of Law and the Challenges to Philippine Law at the Beginning of its Second Century.”
“This important commemoration, in the words of UP Law Dean, Marvic M.V.F. Leonen, is “not only to celebrate UP Law’s distinctive history, but also to renew the institution’s commitment as the country’s bastion of legal education and research.” This occasion indeed serves both as a celebration and as a challenge to the College to continue its excellence in teaching law in the grand manner and to further surpass its long of achievements for the next one hundred years.”
